Thorold Centre 50+
Back in 1914, Thorold did not have a 50+ centre, instead in its place at 8 Carleton street sat L.G. Lorriman public school, which opened its doors in 1914 and remained to teach the children of Thorold up until their closing in 1981. In the year following, the building became home to Thorold City Hall until a movement was pushed for Thorold to gain a Seniors Centre. City Hall officially changed location and with generous support from Ontario Paper, gave full access to the Thorold Senior Citizens Association in 2014. In recent years the Centre has grown exponentially, and is now operating as Thorold Centre 50+ on the Main floor and Lower level. City Hall has moved the new Development Services office to the Upper level and on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, hosted an official plaque unveiling.
